Curriculum

Each student will participate in a programme of learning which they will enjoy and that will provide them with the skills and experiences they need to progress into education, training  or employment.  The academy learning programme will begin for students well before they join in year seven as our staff will work closely with our partner primary schools.

Key Stage 3

This is a two year course for most students and provides the foundation for exam success later.  In Years 7 and 8, students will concentrate on learning skills and competencies that they will use throughout their careers.  Literacy and numeracy are particularly important and each student will be given tailored support in these areas.  The curriculum in Years 7 and 8 is broad balanced, concentrating on English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, PE, Creative Arts, Humanities,  Design Technology and Modern Foreign Languages.  Students will will access PSHE through a series of Step Up Days.

Key Stage 4    

While students will continue with the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, and PE and will access PSHE through a series of Step Up Days.  They will be able, with the support and guidance of staff, to make choices in their studies in Y9 where they can access a wide range of GCSE's including OCR and BTEC courses.
